Angelina Jolie filed a lawsuit against the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act in 2016. She questioned why an investigation into her then-husband Brad Pitt had been closed following allegations of physical and verbal assault against him.

The unnamed plaintiff in the lawsuit, according to Puck News’ Eriq Gardner, is reported to be Jolie, who has long been speculated about due to the timeline and the events described in the suit.

Jolie filed a lawsuit against the FBI after she alleged that Pitt had attacked her and her children while traveling on a private plane “several years ago.”

According to a recent update to Pitt’s filing, the FBI has announced that Pitt will not be charged with assault after the prosecution of police officers in the LAPD.

A statement of probable cause was prepared and given to the head of the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s office in Los Angeles before the FBI announced that Pitt would not be charged.

As detailed in the report that was filed, the allegations against Pitt previously, of taking Jolie to the back of the plane, grabbing her shoulders, and shaking her vigorously while yelling at her, and that Pitt and Jolie had argued, “You’re f—ing up this family.”

As stated by Eriq Gardner, “Later, during this same flight, another physical altercation allegedly took place, and Jolie said she sustained injuries; she gave the agent a photo of her elbow in an attempt to corroborate this. At another point, Jolie says Pitt poured beer on her.”

No charges have ever been filed against Pitt for his alleged physical abuse. Immediately following the alleged incident, he and Jolie divorced.
