On the occasion of their daughter’s 23rd birthday, Barack and Michelle Obama both shared adorable flashback images.
Barack Obama captioned a photo of himself and Malia Obama, saying, “Happy Fourth of July, and Happy Birthday, Malia! It’s been such a joy to watch you begin to make your own way in the world with poise, grace, and humor. I miss the days when you thought the fireworks were for you.”
Michelle Obama, the former first lady, expressed in her own tribute that she and her husband are “very delighted” for their daughter, who recently graduated from Harvard.
The photo, which showed the two in a loving embrace, was captioned, “Happy Fourth of July, everybody—and also, happy 23rd birthday to our dear Malia! It’s been a few years since we took this photo, but I know that she’ll always be my sweet little girl whose big hugs and big heart always lift up my day. Malia, we love you and are so excited to see what this year will bring for you!”
Sasha turned 20 years old earlier this month. Their ecstatic parents wasted no time in sharing their joy on social media. Both former President Obama and First Lady Obama commended Sasha on social media.
In a photo with his daughter Sasha, Barack Obama, 59, captioned, “Happy birthday, Sasha! You’ve grown so much, and it’s been a joy to watch you become the person we always hoped you’d be. Your mom and I can’t wait to see where life takes you next.”
Similarly, Michelle shared a photo of herself and her daughter Sasha with the comment, “Happy birthday to my darling Sasha! I am so grateful for every laugh we’ve shared — and everything you’ve taught me over the years. You’ll always be my little girl, but I couldn’t be prouder of the woman you are becoming. Love you so much! ???”
After dating for two years, Barack and Michelle were engaged on July 31, 1991. Then, on October 3, 1992, the love birds got married.
Malia Ann Obama, the Obamas’ first daughter, was born on July 4, 1998. On June 10, 2001, Sasha Obama, the second of the Barack and Michelle daughters, was born. The Obamas are regarded as one of the happiest families in the world.
Last year, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Barack and Michelle Obama spent more time at home with their children. As a result, Malia and Sasha spent most of 2020 at the family’s homes in Washington, D.C., and Martha’s Vineyard.
Last year, the former first lady stated her daughter, who had just finished her junior year, was a “midnight baker” and that they had enjoyed their unexpected time off from school.
According to Michelle, “This time has allowed us to get some stolen moments back with our girls. Those recaptured moments have meant the world to us, and I think they have made our relationships with our children even stronger.”
