Bukayo Saka has been chosen as Player of the Year in England, beating Harry Kane and Declan Rice.

Bukayo Saka emerged as one of the most exciting English talents last season, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists for Arsenal in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old’s performances at club level have also earned him a place in the England squad, in which he has played nine times since last September, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Bukayo Saka won the national team’s Player of the Year award after putting on an impressive display.

Fans voted for the winger ahead of Rice and Kane, who finished in second and third, respectively.

Saka received his prize during a surprise Q&A session with a local grassroots team, expecting a standard press conference when he walked in.

“No way,” he replied after receiving the award. “I did not expect this, honestly, so I’m honored. It’s really nice.”

Added, “I’m so happy. I can’t put into words how happy I am. It’s really nice to be awarded this trophy.”

Bukayo Saka becomes the first Arsenal player to win the award since it started in 2003 and the youngest ever to do so.

He was also named Player of the Season for the second consecutive year at his club.

Kalvin Phillips took home the England award last year, while Wayne Rooney has claimed it most often, five times.
