On October 13, 2009, Charlie Davies, a prominent American soccer player, was involved in a tragic accident in Washington, D.C.

The incident occurred while he was in the city for a World Cup Qualifier game against Costa Rica.

Davies was a passenger in an SUV that lost control on the George Washington Parkway, crashing into a metal railing and splitting the vehicle in half.

Tragically, a 22-year-old woman in the car with Davies lost her life while he suffered severe injuries.
