In 2011, he joined Pachuca’s youth academy and was under the coaching of Diego Alonso. Mauro played for other clubs like Zacatecas, León, BUAP, as a loan. 

Furthermore, he then transferred to Tijuana FC in 2019. He plays as a winger for his team. The player played on a loan for América, where his brother, Diego, played.

Diego Lainez Career

Diego joined Pachuca’s academy along with his brother. They both started to play football together but went to separate clubs.

Diego joined Club América and debuted his first match of Copa MX in March 2017. The game was against Santos Laguna F.C. After three days, he debuted in the league and became one of the club’s youngest players to debut for the first team. In addition, Diego was only sixteen years old at the time.

In August 2018, he managed to score the first two goals. Diego had a match against Pachuca. And with these two goals, he made history.

He became the youngest player to score double with the club and also managed to be the fifth youngest to achieve a goal in the club’s history. 

In January 2019, Diego was transferred to another club, Real Betis. The transfer cost the club $14 million, and hence a five-year-old contract was signed by the player

Moreover, this transfer became the second most expensive transfer paid for a Mexican player by a European club. 

The player made his La Liga debut in a match against Girona and won the game. He also became the youngest Mexican player to score in the UEFA Europa League in a match against Rennes.

As for his international career, Diego has made the national team for U-17, U20, U21, and U-23. In 2018, he was asked to play a friendly match against America as a part of Mexico’s national team. 

As of the latest international competition, Diego played for Mexico in June 2021. He scored a goal within seconds of playing against America, but Mexico lost the game.

Like most of the football players, Diego too managed to be injured while playing. In September 2018, he sprained his ankle on his left foot.
