Diego joined Pachuca’s academy along with his brother. They both started to play football together but went to separate clubs.
Diego joined Club América and debuted his first match of Copa MX in March 2017. The game was against Santos Laguna F.C. After three days, he debuted in the league and became one of the club’s youngest players to debut for the first team. In addition, Diego was only sixteen years old at the time.
In August 2018, he managed to score the first two goals. Diego had a match against Pachuca. And with these two goals, he made history.
