Today is Kirk Whalum’s 63rd birthday. Whalum is a songwriter and American jazz saxophonist who was born on July 11, 1958. He was born in the city of Memphis in the state of Tennessee. Whalum’s achievements include The Prince of Tides, Boyz n the Hood, The Bodyguard, Grand Canyon, and Cousins (film).
Whalum was named the National Museum of African American Music’s inaugural Jazz Legend recipient on June 20, 2014. In September 2018, he was honored with a Brass Note on Historic Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee.

Sambora, an American rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer, was born on July 11, 1959, and spent 30 years as the lead guitarist of the rock band Bon Jovi. He and Jon Bon Jovi, the band’s main vocalist, established the band’s primary songwriting unit. Stranger In This Town was first published in 1991, followed by Undiscovered Soul in 1998, and Aftermath of the Lowdown in September 2012.
In 2018, as a member of Bon Jovi, Sambora was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he reunited with his old bandmates for a performance at the event.
That same year, he and Orianthi created the RSO duet.
