There have been murmurs and rumors, with some speculating a Jewish lineage. However, these speculations couldn’t be further from the truth.

Time and again, Herjavec has taken opportunities to set the record straight, asserting his Christian faith.

His commitment to Christianity was evident during one of the most challenging episodes of his life in 2015 – his divorce.

Facing the emotional turmoil and whirlwind of feelings often accompanying such a significant life change, Herjavec sought refuge and grounding in his faith.

This spiritual leader gave him the guidance, reassurance, and strength he desperately sought to overcome the tumultuous period.

In 1990, Herjavec tied the knot with Dr. Diane Plese, an eye specialist. However, by July 2014, the couple decided to part ways and officially divorced in early 2016.

The aftermath of their split took a severe toll on Herjavec, leading him to contemplate suicide. The couple shared three children: two daughters, Caprice and Skye, and a son, Brendan.

By September 2015, Herjavec publicly acknowledged his relationship with Kym Johnson, whom he met during his stint on Dancing with the Stars.

Their relationship quickly progressed, leading to their engagement in February 2016. They exchanged wedding vows in Los Angeles on July 31, 2016.

Robert Herjavec Ethnicity And Origin

Robert Herjavec was born in 1962 in Varaždin, a part of what was then known as Yugoslavia but today stands as Croatia.

His formative years were spent in Zbjeg. At the tender age of eight, in 1970, the Herjavec family decided to leave their homeland.

This decision was deeply rooted in political dissent, primarily driven by Vladimir, Robert’s father. Vladimir had been an outspoken critic of the prevailing Communist government.

Robert recounts his father’s defiant nature, mentioning how he occasionally overindulged in alcohol and vocally criticized Communism, actions that saw him imprisoned as many as 22 times.

Seeking a better life and escaping political persecution, the family journeyed to Halifax, Nova Scotia. They embarked on this new chapter with meager possessions: a lone suitcase and a mere $20.

Their quest for stability brought them to Toronto, where they initially resided in the basement of a kind-hearted family friend for about one and a half years.

For young Robert, the transition to a new country, culture, and language (since he didn’t speak English) was overwhelming.

Raised in a rural setting by his grandmother, he now felt an economic disparity compared to his Toronto neighbors.
