James Lesure landed his first-ever television role in The OJ Simpson Story in 1995. He played the role of a cop in the show. After this, he played in popular shows such as Space: Above and Beyond, Seinfeld, Mad About You, and NYPD Blue.
In 1998, he landed the role of Mel Giles on the NBC/The WB series For Your Love. After eight episodes, NBC canceled the show. However, The WB picked it up, and the series ran on the network for four years.
After the cancellation of For Your Love, Lesure played the role of Mike Cannon in the series Las Vegas.
