Jennifer McCurdy was broken by an incident with Tom Hanks while working with Ariana Grande. According to an article of McCurdy’s story, Nickelodeon treated her differently than Grande while they filmed “Sam & Cat,” a spinoff of the popular TV shows “iCarly” and “Victorious.”

McCurdy says she was denied the opportunity to concentrate on projects outside the children’s show, despite Grande being allegedly allowed to do so.

According to the reports, McCurdy wrote, “What finally undid me was when Ariana came whistle toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hanks’s house. I am Glad My Mom Died. That was the moment I broke.”

Following her departure from Nickelodeon, McCurdy turned down a $300,000 offer from the network that would have required her not to discuss her experiences publicly.

A short-lived television series called “Between” ultimately landed McCurdy a starring role before she decided to leave Hollywood.

During the podcast recording in the beginning of 2021, she said, “My experience with acting is, I am so ashamed of the parts I have done in the past. I resent my career in a lot of ways. I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing.

As McCurdy remembered, “I did the shows that I was on from like 13 to 21, and by 15, I was already embarrassed. My friends at 15, they are not like, ‘Oh, cool, you are on this Nickelodeon show.’ It was embarrassing. And I imagine there’s a very different experience to be had with acting if you’re proud of your roles and if you feel fulfilled by them.”
