Joanna Vanderham was raised in Scone and Dundee after being born in Perth. Her mother, Jill Janette Freda Belcha, is a Scottish professor of cardiovascular research at Ninewells Hospital, and her father, Tom Vanderham, is a Dutch entrepreneur.
