Joe Elliot was born in Sheffield, England, on August 1, 1959. He is the son of Joseph William Elliott and Cynthia Gibson. He sadly lost his father in July 2011 after suffering from illness for several weeks.

At the age of 19, he enrolled at King Edward VII School, where he met a member of the Atomic Mass band.

Similarly, he met the rest of the Atomic Mass band in November 1977, which featured guitarist Pete Willis and bassist Rick Savage. He is also a pianist, electronic keyboardist, guitarist, and drummer.

Joe Elliot signed a contract with Mercury-Polygram in 1979 and released the hit single “Getcha Rocks Off,” followed by “On through the Night” in 1980. In 1981, they released ‘High N’ Dry,’ which was produced by Mutt Lange.

Similarly, he wrote pop and soft rock music for Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple as a member of Def Leppard. These guys rose to prominence in the early 1980s with a hard rock song called “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak.”

 Their incredible performance was broadcast on MTV, followed by the 1983 song “Photograph.” In 1998, Elliot and Savage founded ‘players Café,’ an American-style restaurant and bar in Sheffield.

Elliott attempted to agitate the audience at the “Rock of Ages” crowd sing-along on September 7, 1983, in Tucson, Arizona. “Yesterday night, we played in El Paso, that location with all the greasy Mexicans, and they made a lot more noise too,” he said to the audience.

Then, on September 30, he apologized on an El Paso radio station for the racial slur he used on September 7 while referring to the city. Following the apology, the band made money to Hispanic charities.
