Jonah Hill has said he will no longer promote his films to safeguard his mental health.

For the past 20 years, the Superbad actor has suffered from anxiety attacks, which he says are “exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events.”

He has decided not to promote his new documentary, Stutz, about his connection with a therapist.

Dr. Sandra Wheatley, a psychologist, told Radio 1 Newsbeat that his decision was “an essential message.”

She praised the notion that “someone with so much to lose is willing to step back.”

Before the release of Stutz, which he directed and is about the therapist he started seeing in 2017, Jonah, 38, spoke up about his mental health in an open letter that was published by Deadline.

The covertly shot movie explores mental health in general while following the path of a Hollywood star and his therapist.

According to Dr. Wheatley, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, superstars are still performing while they’re on stage or at a movie premiere.

However, she added, “When they’re offstage, they return to who they are.

Celebrities must remember that their public persona is an imitation of themselves, not of who they are, and that can be challenging to manage.

Hill said in the summer of 2022 that he would not promote his upcoming documentary, Stutz, in an open letter to his supporters.

He cited his long struggle with anxiety and panic attacks as a factor in his decision.

Fans Suspect Jonah Hill’s Weight Loss Cause Of Illness

Praising someone for their weight loss or curves, whether in person or online, can appear harmless.

Experts suggest we can all take a cue from Jonah Hill’s recent piece about body language: stop making them.

Hill requested Thursday’s three million Instagram followers refrain from commenting on his excellent or lousy body.

“I know you mean well, but I respectfully request that you refrain from commenting on my body, good or bad. I want to let you know that it’s not helpful and doesn’t feel good.” “Many thanks,” he wrote.

The film follows Hill and Stutz’s mental health adventures. Hill revealed over the summer that he would take a break from promoting his future films, including Stutz, for mental health reasons.

He revealed that he has suffered from anxiety episodes for over 20 years, exacerbated by media appearances and public engagements.

The film is a tribute to Stutz’s life and profession, interspersed with amusing moments between two generations of friends.

According to Deadline, the documentary’s title alludes to Hill’s therapist, and the video includes candid discussions about mental health.

Hill’s anxiety episodes increasingly worsened, turning the promotion of his films into something similar to a nightmare.

Jonah Hill just finished directing Stutz, a documentary on techniques he learned in therapy to help with his mental health, and he’s decided to follow some of his advice.
