The club has denied claims that they want a change in attitude from Cristiano Ronaldo or will terminate his contract.

The Portuguese walked angrily off the pitch after his side’s humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday.

Sky sports informer reports Old Trafford could show the 37-year-old the exit door if his attitude fails to improve in the coming weeks, but the club has swiftly denied these reports.

The current contract with Manchester United expires next summer, with United having the option of extending it.

As part of United’s pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia, Ronaldo missed the trip for personal reasons before Erik ten Hag publicly admonished him for leaving Old Trafford full-time in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano.

“It is unacceptable for everyone,” said the Dutchman while quizzing several players after the early game. “I am telling them it’s unacceptable. We are a team. A squad. Until the end, we stay together.”

Ronaldo netted 24 goals during 38 matches for Manchester United last season. Six goals were scored by him in six Champions League games as his side crashed to Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
