There are plans for Manchester United to make Casemiro one of the Premier League’s highest earners to lure him to Old Trafford.
Casemiro wasn’t in a hurry to leave Real Madrid this summer, but recent interest in him has turned his head.
Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid want the Brazilian international to stay in Spain, but he and his club have mutual respect. The European champions have informed Casemiro that they will not stand in his way of leaving as long as it is clear he wishes to go. is if their valuation gets met.
It could strike a deal worth £50m between the clubs if United can agree to personal terms with the 30-year-old, pushing the value up to £60m if they meet all add-ons.
Chelsea is in constant contact with Real Madrid about a potential deal, as 90min revealed this week, and are considering a move in the next couple of weeks.
United, though, is talking to Casemiro’s representatives to ensure that the player is open to moving to Old Trafford. Sources have confirmed to 90min that concerns have ‘accelerated’ in the last 24 hours.
During those talks, United is willing to pay Casemiro close to £400,000 a week, including bonuses. 90min has reported that it would almost double Casemiro’s take-home pay at Real Madrid, although sources close to United have denied this is not, in fact, the case.
United reportedly wanted to offer the player a five-year deal, which would appeal to a player over 30.
9min realizes that Chelsea would not offer the player such a massive pay rise, and since United cannot offer Champions League football, they would look for a way around it with financial reward.
United have already indicated that they are willing to pay similar wages to what they offered to their number one summer target Frenkie de Jong. United has not confirmed they are backing out of the deal, but it is doubtful they would accept two values of such extent.
Earlier this week, Erik ten Hag aimed to sign five new players by the deadline, with a defensive midfielder a priority.
