The latest look at Ana de Armas’ Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s upcoming film Blonde has emerged.

The first full trailer for Netflix’s Marilyn Monroe film Blonde has been released. Ana de Armas plays the film’s veteran.

As in the film’s teaser, the preview featured de Armas’ Blonde Bombshell conversing with Bobby Cannavale’s Joe DiMaggio, where Monroe played Yankees star. Inquires about his film debut.

“I think I’ve been discovered. I know you’ll get used to it, but I don’t,” she says. “I’m playing Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe. I can’t handle doing another scene with Marilyn Monroe.”

Although scenes from Monroe’s life flash across the screen throughout the trailer, she struggles under the weight of her fame and identity. There is no sign of Marilyn. I’m Norma Jean when I come out of my dressing room. It doesn’t matter if the camera is moving or not. I’m still here. “Marilyn Monroe only exists on screen,” she tells DiMaggio.

The film is directed by Andrew Dominic and based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates. Blondes arrive on the streaming service on September 28 (and not September 23, as previously advertised as the teaser).

The new trailer also shows de Armas’s lengths to embody the platinum blonde icon.

“We worked on this film continuously for a year,” de Armas said. “After reading Joyce’s novel, I studied hundreds of photographs, videos, audio recordings, movies-everything I could find. Each scene is based on an existing photo. We’ll pay attention to every detail in the photo and debate what was going on in this. Our first question was always, ‘What was Norma Jean feeling ?’ Our goal was to tell her story from a human perspective. Marilyn was the most visible person in the world, but Norma was the most invisible.”

As de Armas explained, Andrew wanted to tell the story of Marilyn Monroe from her perspective. “He wanted the world to know what it was like for Marilyn and Norma Jean. Her story is one of the most courageous, apologetic, and feminist I’ve ever seen.”
