Heslop was traveling eastbound in the left lane when he crossed the centerline and collided with a second vehicle traveling west in the left lane of Hamilton Street.

The impact caused a chain reaction as a third vehicle, also traveling west, rear-ended the second vehicle.

While the Hillsborough resident driving the second vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Mario Heslop was transported to an area trauma center, tragically succumbing to his injuries.

The precise cause of the accident is still under investigation by authorities.
