Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they’re expecting their second child together on Sunday.

In an announcement on Valentine’s Day, Queen Elizabeth and her family expressed their “delightedness.”

On Monday, Buckingham Palace told a news channel, “Her Majesty, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, and the entire family are ‘delighted’ and wish them well.”

Specifically, the report referred to Harry’s grandparents, Prince Philip and Prince Charles.

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child”, one of the spokespeople for Markle and Harry revealed on Sunday.

During May this year, they welcomed their first and only child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. After that, the royal couple announced they were stepping down from their duties as senior royals. At present, they live together in California.

The photographer Misan Harrimpan posted a tweet writing, “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story being, and my friend, I am honored to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”

On Valentine’s Day, Markle and Harry shared the news with a black-and-white photo that depicted Markle lying on Harry’s lap with visible signs of a baby bump.

Having stepped down from their duties as senior royals last year after seeking to better focus on raising Archie, the couple is now looking forward to welcoming their second child and feeling less burdened by publicity.

While the couple no longer refers to themselves as “royal highness,” Harry remains among the British royal line for succession to the throne currently occupied by Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Archie would theoretically be ranked seventh in line to the throne, and their second child would rank eighth.

Markle announced in an essay published in The New York Times that she suffered from a miscarriage in July. She described feeling something uneasy one morning while playing with her young son.

According to Markle, she hopes to break the silence surrounding an all-too-common tragedy by telling her story.
