Michelle Branch has been arrested in relation to domestic violence, which she carried out against her estranged husband, Patrick Carney. On Thursday morning, police were called to Michelle’s Nashville household for a potential domestic dispute.
As per a court document, she admitted to slapping a 42-year-old drummer of a rock band known as ‘Black Keys’ one or two times, leading to her arrest. There was no evidence of any visible facial injuries on Carney, as per the lawsuit.
The 39-year-old singer was released after posting $1,000 bail at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. She was initially ordered to be detained for 12 hours, but she was released earlier than expected due to breastfeeding the infant.
As part of her legal proceedings, she will appear before a judge on Nov. 7, 2022, for committing offensive or provocation behavior against her spouse.
A few days before the arrest, the “Everywhere” performer had announced that she and her husband, Carney, were getting divorced after three years together.
In a statement on Thursday, Michelle said, “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me, and now I must figure out how to move forward.” Continuing, “With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”
In her official statement, she took a more professional approach, but she was more honest on Twitter. While she was at home with their 6-month-old baby, Carney was accused of cheating on her.
