In an interview with Lifehacker in 2018, Ken Jennings shared that the kids were planned. When Dylan was just two years old, Ken gained popularity as a Jeopardy! Legend. 

Revealing how his career change affected his life, Dylan said,

“My career change has been the biggest surprise. I was a perfectly happy suburban dad and computer programmer back in 2004, the year I turned 30. So I was not expecting to win on Jeopardy! for six months straight and start a new career as a writer and professional know-it-all.”

The game show host also revealed that he and Mindy have successfully managed to crack the code to parenting. As a result, Ken and his wife can better handle their kids by getting them into a good routine. Ken revealed,

“We have a pretty hard-and-fast rule that the kids must be in their rooms around 8:30 or 9. They don’t have to be asleep, but devices stay plugged in downstairs, so they have to do something boring like read a book. This gives me and Mindy a few child-free hours to put on a movie or the next couple episodes of whatever show we’re watching.”
