“Andy Cohen defends Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ debut on Live with Kelly & Mark after negative reviews”

It’s always good to have friends that have your back, and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos certainly have that in Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen. In response to a recent article from the New York Post claiming that the couple’s morning talk show Live with Kelly & Mark had received negative reviews, Cohen came to their defense on his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live.

“I have a bone to pick with the New York Post,” Cohen said on April 19. “Mark and Kelly had their premiere the other day. Okay. The New York Post wrote an article saying the response to the show was bad, and they quoted ten or seven, or five negative tweets about the show. There are probably 16 troll-y tweets about this particular broadcast right now. There’s not a show you could write about that you couldn’t say, ‘Well, guess what? People on Twitter hated it.'”

Cohen noted that the show gets about 5 million viewers a day and is the number one morning show, suggesting that negative tweets do not necessarily reflect the overall viewership or success of the show. He also criticized the New York Post for being “lazy” and picking a story based on a few negative tweets.

But the New York Post did not stop there. In a follow-up article the next day, the outlet claimed that people still did not like the show. Cohen expressed his frustration with the outlet’s coverage and even criticized them for insinuating that his Instagram Story featuring a picture of Snoopy with the words “Keep your head up” references Ripa and Consuelos.

“This is crazy. This has nothing to do with anything,” Cohen exclaimed.

Despite the negative reviews, Ripa and Consuelos seemed happy with their performance. On the duo’s premiere episode on April 18, Consuelos expressed his gratitude for being able to co-host the show with his wife.

“This is my favorite hour of television every morning, I swear,” Consuelos said. “I’m so proud, and it’s just a privilege to be here with you.”

Ripa and Consuelos first met on the set of the soap opera All My Children in 1995 and have come a long way since then. They now host Live with Kelly & Mark together, with Consuelos replacing Ryan Seacrest after his six-season run as co-host.

Viewers may have criticized the couple’s performance, but with 5 million viewers a day and the title of the number one morning show, it seems that Ripa and Consuelos are doing just fine. As for Cohen, he remains a loyal friend and defender of his pals.
