Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki, and More Join the Cast of the Horror Film MaXXXine

The third installment in the X horror movie series, MaXXXine, has recently announced its cast lineup, which includes A-list actors such as Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki, Bobby Cannavale, Giancarlo Esposito, Michelle Monaghan, and Lily Collins, along with musicians Moses Sumney and Halsey. Mia Goth will lead the cast as the titular heroine, Maxine, who navigates 1980s Los Angeles to pursue her acting career after surviving the events in X.

Director Ti West and production company A24 have kept details about the upcoming film tightly under wraps, but Goth has teased that MaXXXine will be the best of the three movies in the series and will have the highest stakes. Unsurprisingly, the movie has garnered attention, as the previous two films in the series, X and Pearl, were both low-budget but critically acclaimed horror movies.

MaXXXine will explore the dangerous world of underground filmmaking. The new cast members’ roles have been revealed to include Debicki as a film director, Esposito as an agent for adult film and Z-list movie actors, and Monaghan and Cannavale as LAPD detectives. Bacon will play a private detective, while Collins, Halsey, and Sumney’s characters are being kept under wraps.

West has managed to eventize the X series with his guerrilla marketing tactics and surprise revelations, and MaXXXine is expected to continue the trend.
