Katy Perry Gets Booed on ‘American Idol’ for ‘First Time in 6 Seasons’ Over Her Feedback

During Monday’s episode of American Idol, Katy Perry’s criticism didn’t sit well with the show’s live audience in Hawaii. After fan-favorite Nutsa Buzaladze’s live performance of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals’ “Paris (Ooh La La),” the pop star gave some harsh feedback. Perry stated, “Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it’s like you glitter bomb the stage. Listen, I think one thing I personally would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that’s gonna be hard.” However, the crowd disagreed and started booing loudly in response, prompting fellow judge Luke Bryan to cheer, “Yes! Katy got booed. Katy got booed.”

Katy Perry Get BOOED first time

Perry didn’t let the audience’s reaction bother her, stating, “OK, first time in six seasons, woo hoo,” and went on to clarify her feedback to Buzaladze. Perry explained, “What I’m saying is that I’d like you to flip the script. I think we want to be pulled in by our hearts, too. I’d love to see that, and I think America might too.”

Buzaladze herself has acknowledged that she needs to learn how to tone it down a bit. During her audition in Las Vegas, the “Roar” singer commented that the energy was “turned up too hot.” As the 25-year-old contestant prepares for the Hollywood Week solos round, she admitted, “My problem is, I feel always that I have a lot of energy.”

Despite the disagreement between Perry and the audience, the American Idol judges continue to search for the next superstar. Fans can tune in on Sunday nights to see who will take the stage and impress the judges next.
