The album was a critical and commercial success, and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the US. His second album, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood released in December 1998.

DMX’s most successful album was his third album, titled …And Then There Was X, released on December 21, 1999; the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified six-times Platinum.

After releasing three more albums, DMX released his last album, Exodus, in 2021. Additionally, DMX acted in several movies and TV shows, including Belly, Romeo Must Die, Never Die Alone, Lords of the Street, The Bleeding, Eve, and Third Watch.

Apart from his work, DMX was also known for his feuds with Jay-Z and Ja Rule. The three rappers had formed a short-lived hip-hop supergroup known as Murder Inc. in 1995.

After the group’s breakup, DMX accused Ja Rule of being a copycat and claimed that Ja Rule copied his signature throaty and harsh rapping style. The duo officially ended their feud in 2009 at VH1’s Hip Hop Honors.

DMX and Jay-Z’s feud began in the early 1990s after a rap battle between the two rappers. However, their feud ultimately fizzled out with time.

DMX was incarcerated 30 times in life. He was imprisoned on accounts of various offenses, including robbery, assault, carjacking, animal cruelty, reckless driving, driving under the influence, unlicensed driving, drug possession, probation violation, failure to pay child support, pretending to be a federal agent, and tax evasion.
