According to the palace, “The Queen remains comfortable” at Balmoral Castle.

Earlier this year, the Queen, who is 96 years old, celebrated her platinum jubilee.

Supposedly, Prince Charles, Camilla, the Dutchess of Cornwall, and Prince William are planning to join her at Balmoral Castle to offer their support and comfort.

According to reports, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are also expected.

In a tweet, U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss wrote, “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.”

Truss added, “My thoughts — and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom — are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”

The Queen currently resides at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands, which she regularly refers to as her favorite place.

As part of her annual tradition, she spends the holidays with her family yearly. Nevertheless, she has been based there ever since she became ill.

Queen Elizabeth II, who had a full day of activities the day before, postponed her Wednesday meeting with government officials.

On Tuesday, the Queen enjoyed the day at her summer home in Scotland, appointing Truss. During the symbolic transfer of power to Truss, she watched a full day’s worth of activities.

Following the big day, the Queen was advised by her doctor to take it easy and rest, so she decided to follow his advice.

According to a statement issued by the palace on Wednesday, “After a full day yesterday, Her Majesty has this afternoon accepted doctors’ advice to rest. [Unfortunately], this means that the Privy Council meeting that had been due to take place this evening will be rearranged.”

Since October 2021, the Queen has been walking with a cane due to episodes of mobility issues.

Furthermore, the monarch was forced to withdraw from a Remembrance Day ceremony in November 2021 due to a sprained back.
