Clone of the notorious Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Dathan had a link to the Force that he passed on to their daughter Rey.

But when Ochi of Bestoon, a Sith assassin hired by Sidious, set out to find Rey, their tranquil existence was upended.

Dathan and Miramir, fearing for their family’s safety, made the painful choice to abandon Rey on Jakku to keep her safe.

They thought that keeping the family intact would simply put their daughter at more risk.

Sadly, their plans to go back for Rey when things got better were dashed when Ochi mercilessly killed them and kept up his persistent quest after finding they didn’t know where Rey was.

Rey’s parents died tragically, but she ultimately learned what happened to her family.

She discovered that she was Darth Sidious’ granddaughter in the subsequent film trilogy. But Rey didn’t want to be defined by her family.

Instead, she accepted her destiny and desired to join the ranks of the Jedi Knights, just like her role models, Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker.

She joined their ranks after being moved by their cause and the Resistance’s fight against the repressive First Order, where she quickly distinguished herself as a key member.

Rey played a pivotal role in the Resistance’s successes over the First Order with her steadfast resolve and developing Force mastery, finally realizing her potential as a Jedi Knight.

Rey thoughtfully took the Skywalker surname when the story ended, honoring her role models and friends, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.

With this significant deed, she began rebuilding the Jedi Order and efforts to bring peace to the galaxy, continuing the Skywalker name’s history.

Does Rey Skywalker die At The End? 

There is no definitive canonical proof of Rey Skywalker’s demise. Therefore, her fate after the Skywalker story is still up for debate.

Rey embarks on a mission to revive the Jedi Order and establish peace throughout the galaxy in the climactic sequences of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Rey visits the Lars homestead on Tatooine, where Luke and Leia were buried, in a moving scene. Like Luke in the well-known moment from A New Hope, she buries their lightsabers as she looks at the twin suns.

The Force ghosts of Luke and Leia materialize as she gets ready to leave, signifying their presence and direction.

When Rey realizes she is connected to their legacy, she takes on the Skywalker name. A

lthough some fans make predictions regarding Rey’s possible demise, there has yet to be a clear resolution in the canon that has been established.

Rey’s story ends with her setting off on a new trip to honor the Skywalker family’s beliefs and carry on the Jedi legacy.
