The 58-year-old Oliver was a passenger in a tandem flight when two paragliders collided mid-air, resulting in the fatal incident.
The pilot of one of the paragliders managed to deploy a parachute and land safely in the sea, while Oliver, unfortunately, landed on nearby rocks.
The tragic accident occurred while Oliver was supporting his son Jack in Cape Town. Jack is a member of the Ireland squad participating in the World Rugby Under-20 Championship.

Similarly, Oliver held various coaching roles with Garryowen and Munster Rugby. There, he was appointed as the elite performance officer in 2011.

He contributed significantly to the development of young players as an elite performance officer at Munster Rugby. Also, he was an assistant coach with Ireland under-20s.
