She is the first Journal-area alumni to play volleyball at Northwestern since Elyse Glab graduated from Resurrection High School in 2010.

Her mother, Maura, was a college volleyball player at Eastern Illinois University, and her father, Kyle Reid, was a highly successful coach who led Buffalo Grove boys volleyball to a 136-55 record from 1997 to 2001.

Kyle guided the squad to two sectional titles and two state appearances, finishing fourth in 1998. Later, he worked as an assistant coach at Benet Academy, where he helped build the team into a state powerhouse under head coach Brad Baker.
