Safa Kabir family is left devastated and unfathomable due to her tragic death. She was the daughter of the renowned human rights activist Shahriar Kabir.
Safa Kabir, who has also been referred to as Arpita Shahriyar Kabir Mumu, was a young and beautiful woman. According to reports, police found Arpita hanging in her Banani area house on 8 June 2023.
The authorities responded to a report and went to the house in the area on Thursday night and found the hanging body. Later, officers handed the woman’s body over to her family.
Banani Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman has also confirmed the matter today (9 June). Police suspect Arpita died of suicide, as they found no foul play. But the reason behind her suicide remains a mystery.

Arpita Kabir Mumu, who was found hanging on 8 June 2023, was the daughter of renowned Bangladeshi human rights activist Shahriar Kabir.
Her mother’s name is unknown. The Kabir family has not come forward and talked about the tragedy as they are mourning the loss. Arpita’s father, Shahriar Kabir, 72-year-old, is also a journalist, filmmaker, activist, and author.
In addition, the late woman’s dad has penned over seventy books focusing on human rights, fundamentalism, history, communism, and the Bangladesh War of Independence. In addition, her father is the winner of the 1985 Bangla Academy Literary Award.
Prominent human rights activist Shahriar was born on 20 November 1950 in Feni district, Chittagong Division, East Pakistan, which is now in Bangladesh.
Mr. Kabir completed higher secondary level education at Jagannath College. The journalist attended the University of Dhaka and studied Bengali.
During the Liberation War in Kolkata, Shariar Kabir was one of the most notable Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra activists.
Furthermore, Arpita’s dad contributed to creating motivational plays and poems for independence fighters. His works were played at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
While attending the University of Dhaka, he began writing books for children and teenagers. Mr. Kabir went on to work as a journalist for the “Weekly Bichitra” and the “Daily Bangla” after the war.
Mr. Kabir was a key editor of the Weekly Bichitra, which was crucial in prosecuting liberation war perpetrators. The author served as the general secretary of Bangladesh Lekhak Shibir from 1976 to 1980.

Human rights activist Shahriar Kabir’s late daughter, Arpita Kabir Mumu, was 41 years old at the time of her death. Many online sources have claimed that the journalist’s daughter’s name is Safa Kabir.
Sachin Karmakar, a fellow member of the Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee and presidium member of BHBCUC, expressed his sorrow over Arpita’s death. Sachin said no word would be enough to console Arpita’s father.
