The Cast of “Sex Education” star Simone Ashley takes on a new role as a Regency Era London.

Netflix confirmed that Ashley had been cast in the second season of Bridgerton, the hit Shondaland show. In the film, she will play romantic interest Kate Sharma opposite Anthony Bridgerton portrayed by Jonathan Bailey.

Season two of Bridgerton will provide a closer look at Anthony, the eldest Bridgerton, and his grudging pursuit of marriage. The series will be based on the second book in Julia Quinn’s series, “The Viscount Who Loved Me.”

In Season 2, the world reimagined in its first chapter is set to continue, in which 19th-century British high society includes people of all races. The show’s first season was Netflix’s most-watched original series to date.

In the series, Ashley portrays Kate as a smart, independent woman, new to the ton and its many social events (and expectations). Wining Kate over will not be an easy task for Anthony.

The actress Ashley is best known for playing Olivia, the mean girl in Netflix’s “Sex Education.” “The Sister,” “A Newborn’s Nightmare,” “Casualty,” “Pokémon Detective Pikachu,” and “Broadchurch” are her other credits.

“Bridgerton,” season one stars Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Ruby Barker as Marina Thompson, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, and Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, as well as Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Sabrina Bartlett, Martins Imhangbe, and Lorraine Ashbourne. Julie Andrews voices the Lady Whistledown character.
