Meghan Markle was visibly emotional during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral Monday morning.
As the late monarch’s coffin lay in a casket at Wellington Arch, the Duchess of Sussex appeared to be wiping tears away while her lip quivered.
A short time later, the Queen’s casket left for its final journey to Windsor Castle.
Markle watched the casket bearers load the coffin into the back of the Jaguar hearse after weaning it from the State Gun Carriage.
In honor of the historical event, Markle wore diamond-and-pearl earrings presented to her by the late monarch. In addition, she wore a Stella McCartney dress in respect of the Queen.
The 42-year-old joined her husband, Prince Harry, earlier in the day in Westminster Abbey.
They were seated in the second row, far from Prince William and Kate Middleton during the funeral service.
Markle was not the only royal family member to become emotional on this sorrowful morning.
King Charles III wiped away tears while seated with other royal family members, including Queen Consort Camilla and Prince William.
The Countess of Wessex, the wife of Prince Edward, also appeared to be patting her eyes with a tissue. At one point in the event, she seemed to comfort Prince George while most of those around her remained silent.
