Rainn appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2007 and shared funny stories about Walter, who was only two and a half years old.
He described Walter as a “handsome little tyke” on the late-night talk show, revealing his son’s odd ways.

“I’m a little worried about him, Conan, he’s a little weird. My son is strange. He’s talking in complete sentences, but I can’t really understand what he’s talking about half the time. The other day I went, ‘Walter, what do you want to do today?’ And he said, ‘I wanna throw a lemon up in the sky.’ I mean, who talks like that? It doesn’t make any sense.”

He added,

“He was running around, doing something and I was like, ‘Oh, Walter, you sure are a busy beaver.’ And he goes, ‘No, I’m a big boy.’ He doesn’t get the metaphor. I mean, we’re not really communicating.”.

Conan O’Brien responded to Rainn’s story about Walter and said, “God, you’re a tough dad.”

Moreover, Rainn also described how he and Walter had the chance to meet legendary actor, Sir Peter O’Toole at a Super Bowl party. Rainn shared that he was very excited for Walter to meet O’Toole.

While introducing little Walter to O’Toole, Rainn revealed that O’Toole quoted the opening lines of John Keats’ “Ode on a Grecian Urn” and said,

“Thou still unravish’d bride of quietness / Thou foster-child of Silence and slow Time, / Sylvan historian”.

Walter, however, was unimpressed and replied,

“No, I’m not a sylvan historian. I’m a big boy.”

Rainn further joked and said,

“I told him, I was like, ‘You don’t talk to a knight that way.’ I took him home, I tried to show him some of Lawrence of Arabia to educate him on Sir Peter and he was like, ‘Oh, look a camel. [he said] We’re not communicating, Conan, I don’t know…I’ll give him another year.”

which made the entire studio laugh.
